Goodness in Every Drop
For a refreshing, thirst-quenching tequila cocktail, Paloma is definitely at the top of the list for any tequila aficionado, and it is very easy to make. This is a light, fruity drink with enticing light fizz and one of the smoothest tequila cocktails you can prepare. Unlike many conventional variations of Paloma, our recipe features an unusual Italian twist by adding Aperol instead of grapefruit soda and fresh basil for herbaceous zestiness.
Prepare agave syrup by diluting the agave nectar with water in 1:1 ratio. In a Boston shaker, muddle together 6 Basil Leaves with agave nectar and freshly squeezed lime juice. Add Espanita Reposado tequila, Aperol, freshly squeezed red grapefruit juice and a handful of ice. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds and strain in a cocktail glass through a fine mesh strainer. Add a small splash of club soda to finish the drink and gently stir to combine.
Paloma remains Mexico’s most beloved tequila-based cocktail. In this recipe, Paloma receives a tasty makeover with an addition of the Italian aperitif Aperol and basil leaves. Aperol adds bright zesty flavors of sweet orange peel, mandarin, and an array of herbs and spices. These flavors combine perfectly with rich agave notes of Espanita Reposado tequila and herbaceous fragrances of fresh basil. – MICHAEL GLASSBERG / Carousel Bar.
